The universe and the world we live in are complex systems. Man is also a complex system. Our existence, as well as the existence of any systems, is conditioned by interactions with other systems of the living and inanimate world. The openness of any complex systems and the nonlinearity of their relations with the environment determine the nature of their existence along the entire path of their evolution. Ways of being in the process of development are subject to selection within populations, species, and individual types of systems. The set of principles establishes a General picture and trends in the evolution of complex systems. Openness, non-linearity of relations and differentiation of systematics turn all types of evolution into hierarchical sequences with power trends of development. Understanding these principles will help us approach the basics of non-linear forecasting and reduce the risk of our being on Earth.
Therefore, the study of the dynamics of complex systems is inherently interdisciplinary and is the goal of the journal «Complex systems». At the first stage, it is supposed to generalize what has been achieved in various disciplinary areas in order to understand the General principles of the structure, development and interaction of complex systems, regardless of their nature. The exchange of knowledge and achievements between researchers working in various Sciences in this direction is most effective within the framework of stable periodicals. This will allow us to develop a living unified language of interdisciplinary communication.
One of the main goals of the journal is to accumulate research, experimental and theoretical results of studying the structure, development and interaction of complex systems, as well as methods of their modeling, developed in the process of studying physical, chemical, biological, technical, social, and other complex systems. The task is to create databases for generalizations, to put forward new ideas and to popularize them for a wide range of readers.
The journal focuses on important theoretical and applied problems of complex systems ‘ response to various external influences, as well as problems of optimal control of individual processes, especially in extreme States, and the behavior of systems as a whole. Research in this direction can serve as a basis for the implementation of models of controlled systems in laboratory experimental facilities and in nature.
The interdisciplinary journal «Complex systems» aims to bring together the efforts of various researchers and groups working in different countries. That is why the number of organizations supporting the idea of this magazine are the Moscow state University named after M. V. Lomonosov, Institute of physics of the Earth RAS, Institute of philosophy, Russian Academy of Sciences and other scientific organizations and editorial Board of the journal includes leading Russian and foreign scientists: mathematicians, physicists, chemists, biologists, geneticists, geologists, economists, philosophers, sociologists, etc.
We plan to talk about scientific achievements in the most modern areas of theoretical interdisciplinary research and practical applications in the field of nonlinear oscillation theory, chaos theory, fractals, phase transitions, self-organization processes and dynamics of complex systems.
It is important for us to help understand and develop rules for correcting the principles of Social development, so that they are as consistent as possible with the principles of self-organization and the trend of evolution with the proper number and quality of feedbacks, in order to protect Society from a dead end. It is no secret that the methods of organization by which Society develops do not have the necessary flexibility of feedbacks.
For the first time, a fundamentally new interdisciplinary journal appears in the information field of science. The journal is not of local interdisciplinarity, but global in everything, global in all areas of science. This new approach is a strategy for the development of the scientific community in the era of synthesis of scientific achievements. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an interdisciplinary lexicon, interdisciplinary methods and approaches that allow all areas of science to participate equally and simultaneously develop this new direction.
The basis for such approaches and this kind of interdisciplinarity is:
- urgent need for a General synthesis of existing scientific achievements;
- General character of hierarchy of evolution for any complex systems;
- similarity of principles and trends of evolution;
- ability to manage the processes of development and evolution;
- strategic need to develop the theory of complex systems for managing social development risks and for effective social forecasting;
- the need to develop new approaches in mathematical, physical, and chemical modeling.
Accordingly, the goals and objectives of the journal are formulated from the most General complex positions, which opens up wide opportunities for participation in discussions on the pages of the journal of scientists of various fields.
